Flood zone maps show areas that have a 1 annual chance of a flood event (100-year flood zone) and areas that have a 0.2 annual chance of a flood event (500-year flood zone). ![]() The zones are set based on a home’s vulnerability to deadly storm surge, with Zone A being most vulnerable. When counties mandate evacuations, they will do it by zones A-E. Florida residents should have an evacuation plan in place before a storm is on the radar. Emergency management officials say it's important residents know which evacuation zone they live in. Hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30.
